Description
Join the Foundation Center for a discussion on how timely and consistent grants information from foundations enhances philanthropic effectiveness and encourages collaboration. Jeannine Corey, director of grants information management will: review some best practices for capturing and managing your grant data to be able to analyze historic transactions and make informed grant decisions going forward; explain the benefits of becoming an eGrant Reporter; and invite organizations to provide feedback on the taxonomy review and expansion project currently underway by the Foundation Center.
Davis Parchment, special projects associate, will introduce participants to the www.glasspockets.org initiative, an effort to inspire foundations to greater openness in their communications by increasing understanding of best practices for transparency and accountability in an online world. Glasspockets.org illustrates how institutional philanthropy is relevant to the critical issues of our time by highlighting successes, failures, and ongoing experimentation. Such transparency uncovers insights and creates connections—helping foundations build on each other’s ideas to increase impact and, ultimately, demonstrates how private wealth is serving the public good.
E-reporters who wish to understand how their data is organized by the Center should register prior to June 25th, 2012. Those who meet this deadline will be presented with their “crosswalk” and Glasspockets profile benchmarked against 23 online transparency practices.
