Conversations on Capitalization and Community

A project of Grantmakers in the Arts
Thursday, October 05, 2017
Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 1:15 - 4:15 PM
DESCRIPTION:

Grantmakers in the Arts with sponsorship from the James F. & Marion L. Miller Foundation cordially invites you to Continuing Conversations with Funders on Capitalization and Community.

Capitalization is having money to achieve artistic mission over the long term. It is synonymous with financial health and the resources needed to meet an organization’s mission.

In 2013, 27 Portland area and Oregon funders gathered for a Conversation with Funders on Capitalization and Community to achieve stronger financial health and vibrancy of the arts and cultural organizations they fund. Please join us for a revisit of this important conversation where we will refresh our knowledge of the capitalization principles, share the successes and challenges of changing grantmaking practices, and discuss how we can strengthen our strategies both inside our organizations and as a collective network of local funders.

RSVP by September 25th to: martha@millerfound.org

This event welcomes funders who were present at the 2013 conversation and those who are new to the conversation. The workshop is designed and presented by Rebecca Thomas, Principal, Rebecca Thomas & Associates; and Janet Brown, President & CEO, Grantmakers in the Arts.
