Volunteering in Oregon: Strengths and Challenges Across Sectors

Wednesday, April 26, 2017
Wednesday, April 26, 2017, 11:45 AM - 1:30 PM
DESCRIPTION:

Join your fellow corporate social responsibility peers to engage in a conversation about the strengths and challenges of utilizing volunteering as a part of your CSR strategy in Oregon.  The first of its kind in Oregon, the Volunteering in Oregon project, was conducted in 2016 and commissioned by The Oregon Community Foundation. The report explored key topics related to volunteering in our state by interviewing and surveying hundreds of area nonprofits. The result was the creation of a set of recommendations and action steps on how to encourage and support effective volunteer engagement and service in Oregon.

In this program, the lead researcher of the Volunteering in Oregon project, Callie Lambarth from Portland State University, will recap the key themes collected and provide recommendations, tailored to our corporate audience, on how to support effective volunteer engagement.

In addition, Hands On Greater Portland Director and CVC Liaison, Becky Blumer, will facilitate a panel discussion with your peers about the innovative ways in which they use volunteerism to activate their CSR strategy.

Prepare to leave this program with a renewed commitment to corporate volunteerism as an important CSR tool and to be provoked to think further about the role that you can play in supporting effective volunteer engagement in our community.

To help us prepare, please take a moment (whether or you are able to attend the program or not), to share anonymously about the strengths and challenges of volunteerism in your purview.
