Walla Walla Valley Funders’ Tour, November 1-3, hosted by Blue Mountain Community Foundation & The Sherwood Trust
Sherwood Trust and Blue Mountain Community Foundation are hosting a tour for private foundations and corporate funders to learn about and explore the Walla Walla Valley, from Dayton, Washington to Walla Walla to Milton-Freewater, Oregon on November 1-3, 2017. This program will introduce some of the exciting and innovative collaborations in our rural communities and highlight opportunities for future philanthropic investment.
The schedule will highlight regional initiatives and organizations, including:
- An interactive Data Walk to showcase how we have used data on local trends to engage the community and launched a process to develop a vision and priorities for the entire Blue Mountain region, led by Community Council.
- A tour of Walla Walla’s Teen Center, “The Hub on 3rd”, a new collaborative to serve local youth with co-located nonprofits: Blue Mountain Action Council providing employment and training services, Catholic Charities running a youth shelter, The Health Center providing primary and mental health care services, and Children’s Home Society of Washington providing Early Head Start child care for parenting teens. Walla Walla has supported a trauma-informed approach to serving youth and families and building resilience in our communities, led by the nationally-recognized Children’s Resilience Initiative.
