Homelessness: How the Interconnection of Resources is Making an Impact

Monday, June 13, 2022
3:30 - 4:45 pm
DESCRIPTION:

Homelessness is a systemic humanitarian crisis that has caused communities throughout the country trying to understand and address the problem. As we peel back the veneer of creating solutions, we have learned that there are much better solutions than sequestering homeless individuals and families in shelters. Grantmakers of Oregon and SW Washington is hosting this second session of a series that explores homelessness and identifies strategies that are making an impact. In this virtual gathering, we will learn from HereTogether about how collaboration and partnerships from all sectors of the community have created a path forward to solve what many feel is an unsolvable problem.

HereTogether is a not-for-profit collaboration of leaders and service providers that successfully led the HereTogether-Metro services measure passed by voters in 2020. By bringing together other service providers, corporations, government, communities of color and faith, they have created a region-wide response to homelessness that targets the roots of the problem and matches proven solutions — affordable homes, combined with flexible, wraparound services — with the scale and scope of the crisis.
