DESCRIPTION:
This workshop is for the grant reviewer who needs to understand and articulate what a grant applicant has proposed in their grants. Whether you are new to philanthropy or want a refresher about what a nonprofit’s financials reveal, our presenters will give you what you need. Topics will include understanding the various financial statements, internal financial processes that could impact how you review an application, a deep dive into the Form 990 (required by the IRS for all nonprofits) and a number of other financial reporting best-practices.
Cheryl Olson is a CPA, CGMA and Director, Solutions Strategist for Clark Nuber. Cheryl has a long history working with the not-for-profit sector as a volunteer, consultant, Assistant Executive Director, CFO, auditor, and tax accountant. She is also a member of the AICPA Not-for-Profit (NFP) Advisory Council, which helped launch the AICPA NFP Member Section.
Candi Avery is also a CPA, CGMA with Clark Nuber. Candi has extensive experience working with not-for-profit organizations including foundations, research institutes, schools, social service agencies and associations. In addition to serving on not-for-profit boards, Candi is a frequent speaker on complex not-for-profit accounting issues, policies and procedures, federal grant compliance, and board governance topics.
