Join us for our 2017 Winter Social! The Winter Social is the last event of the year, which we reserve for socializing and a preview of what’s in store for 2018. This year we’ll be at the Oregon Jewish Museum’s new location, and have access to several exhibits, including their three core exhibits:
- Discrimination and Resistance, An Oregon Primer, which identifies discrimination as a tool used to affect varied groups of people over the history of this region;
- The Holocaust, An Oregon Perspective, a history of the Holocaust that employs the stories of Oregon survivors;
- and Oregon Jewish Stories, an installation focused on the experience of the Jews of Oregon
We will also have access to I AM THIS: Art by Oregon Jewish Artists , an exhibit that showcases work by four generations of artists born Jewish, associated with or living in Portland, and navigating the complexity of aesthetics and self, making and being. The exhibition provides a platform to explore the role of identity and religion in modern art, as first articulated in the writings of the mid-century American art critic Harold Rosenberg.
Location: Oregon Jewish Museum
