Third Thursday: Understanding Immigrant and Refugee Issues: A Dialogue Between Funders and Advocates

Eliot Center @ First Unitarian Church, 1226 SW Salmon, Portland OR 97205 || $25 Members, $45 Nonmembers
Thursday, February 15, 2018
Thursday, February 15, 2018, 11:45 AM - 1:30 PM
DESCRIPTION:
Sponsored by Meyer Memorial Trust and MRG Foundation

We saw many federal actions on immigration in 2017: restricting visitors, immigrants, and refugees to the United States, detentions of DACA youth, and a series of ICE raids in the Pacific Northwest. To address these urgent issues and streamline access to funding, five local funders — The Collins Foundation, Meyer Memorial Trust, MRG Foundation, The Oregon Community Foundation and the Pride Foundation — formed the Oregon Immigrant and Refugee Funding Collaborative (OIRFC), which set out to create a coordinated, collaborative, and nimble funding approach with a common application form.

In this program, we will hear from OIRFC funders on how the funding collaborative was formed and how it has been shaped over the past year. In addition, we will hear from organizers on the forefront of the work, who will share what they’ve been seeing over the past year and what they expect to see in 2018.

Join us to learn about this new funding model, as well as the most up to date information on issues facing immigrant and refugee communities in our state.
