Join the DEI Community of Practice

Meyer Memorial Trust and GOSW are excited to announce that we have joined in collaboration to host a new peer learning pilot to share and gain practical strategies to advance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within your foundation! The DEI Communities of Practice pilot will run for one year and is open to participants who are members of GOSW.

What is a community of practice?

A community of practice is a group of people who are peers, share a concern or a passion for something they do, and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly. Communities of Practice can be general in nature with specific themes or issues chosen for each gathering or could be organizations. Participants will meet monthly.

Who should participate?

The DEI Community of Practice will consist of up to 12 DEI practitioners, foundation executives or Board members committed to advancing DEI in their institutions. Participants need to self-select to participate; in other words, while they may have to gain approval to participate, they should not be required to participate by their institutions, as this approach has been shown to be less effective. While idealism related to achieving DEI is positive, the intention of the DEI Community of Practice is to share realistic and pragmatic strategies.

The pilot Community of Practice will limit the number of people per organization to one in order to engender greater trust in the group and in the process. Information shared in the group is strictly confidential, and based on interest level and demand, additional Communities of Practice could be created.
